FTR Suspension has created its own performance centre to cater for all your Off-Road engine requirements. FTR can now offer full engine servicing, rebuilding as well as bike prep, set-up, valve checks, re-jetting and wheel building.
Toby Thomas joins FTR as a fully qualified MX GP mechanic and will manage FTR Performance to help with all your Off-Road engine and set-up requirements. Working from FTR Suspensions fully equipped, GP spec workshop, Toby can offer all of the above services at very competitive prices whilst ensuring the highest quality work.
Toby is a fully qualified technician having started working as an engineer building engine components for Maclaren & Jaguar Cosworth Formula 1 engines. As a talented MX racer for many years and successful mechanic, building on his engineering experience and engine expertise, Toby progressed into a dedicated MX Rider Techncian. He began work for RWJ Honda in 2006 wrenching for Elliott Banks-Browne in his first year in the GP’s.
After a successful year with RWJ, Toby moved to the PAR Homes Honda team in 2007 spannering and building engines for the up and coming schoolboy rider James Cottrell. It was a busy year spent doing BYMX Nationals, Under 21’s as well as the Maxxis MX2 British Championship.
2008 saw the creation of the SUSO-MVR-D Suzuki, a team Toby joined to continue working with James Cottrell as well as to provide technical support for Carl Nunn and Marcus Norlen. Toby carried on working at the Under 21’s and British Championships and remained as GP support for the team. Other riders Toby has worked with over the years include James Noble, Lewis Toombs & Matisse Karro.
Toby has extensive experience working with all 2 & 4 stroke MX bikes including Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki & KTM. He is happy to discuss your requirements and tailor make his services to suit your needs. Toby uses all genuine components and recommends MOTUL products for the safe upkeep of your bike.
